One potential AFC prospect may be gearing up for an aggressive pursuit of wide receiver Davante Adams.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have strong interest in Adams and are making an “aggressive” offer for him, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. The Steelers have already been in contact with the Las Vegas Raiders about a potential trade.

A possible pursuit of Adams doesn’t come as a big surprise. The Steelers made a run at wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk this offseason before he ultimately stayed with the San Francisco 49ers. While that pursuit was unsuccessful, it very clearly meant the team wasn’t happy with the wide receiver options and was willing to pay for a No. 1 overall pick.

While the Steelers are interested in Adams, it’s not clear if Adams is as interested in them. Reports indicate the Raiders wide receiver is keen to move to one team, although there are reportedly a handful of other teams he would also be open to. That may not ultimately matter, as Adams has no direct say in where he goes unless the Raiders choose to take his preferences into account.

Ultimately, this could come down to whether the Steelers meet the Raiders’ high asking price. If they start being aggressive, it can give them a big advantage.
