Halle Berry has called out “seedy s—” in Hollywood in response to director Matthew Vaughn’s revelation about the X-Men franchise.

An interview clip has emerged from last year’s New York Comic Con, where the British director claimed to have quit X Men 3 (released in 2006) after Berry was given a fake script to trick her into signing up.

The Daily Mail According to the newspaper, Berry responded to Vaughn’s claim of cheating with a post on Instagram, writing, “You just never know the shady things that happen behind your back! Thank you Matthew Vaughn for bringing the darkness to light.”

The Oscar-winning actress previously played the character Storm in the hit franchise since its debut in 2000, including the original and sequels.

The Daily Mail reports that Vaughn claims a fake script was produced to appeal to Berry with an elaborate storyline for her character, saying, “I thought, if you’re going to do that with an Oscar-winning actress playing Storm, I’m going to quit.” ; I thought: I’m chopped… One of the main reasons I quit X Men 3and this is a true story: Hollywood is really political and strange.”

Berry did appear X Men 3with Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammar, Fame Janssen and Elliot Page. Vaughn was replaced by Brett Ratner to direct the film, which went on to gross over $460 million worldwide.
