WARRINGTON — First place in the Suburban One League National Conference football standings awaited the winner Friday night at Titan Stadium.

North Penn and Central Bucks South went into the game with 6-0 overall records and 3-0 marks in the SOL National.

The Titans gained the inside track to the conference title with a 14-6 victory in which their defense, especially the front seven, excelled. CB South limited North Penn to 20 rushing yards on 28 carries and sacked Knights junior quarterback Matt Bucksar five times.

“We just have some cats out there that do what they got to do,” said South senior defensive end Eddie Bowen. “Since the first game with West a few weeks ago (a 22-17 victory on the last play), we weren’t the happiest with how we performed up front. We knew we had to get better from there. We definitely have. “

North Penn head coach Dick Beck noticed.

“They kicked the crap out of us on the offensive line,” Beck said. “They’re really good, defensively.”

Bowen, fellow senior end Nick Micewski, senior lineman Justin Dwyer, senior linebacker Jim Wade and junior linebacker Jack Bartolillo led the way for the Titans, who play a three-man front.

“They are relentless and they’ve been relentless all year,” said CB South head coach Tom Hetrick. “It all sort of flows from that level back. They made plays all night tonight, especially when we needed them to in those last four minutes.”

Wade seemed to be in the backfield all evening pressing Bucksar or chasing him into a group of teammates.

“Wade played out of his mind,” Micewski said. “I’ve never seen a player like him. He’s legit. He’s the real deal.”

“He sees things and then he’s like, ‘Let me go get this,'” Hetrick said. “(And) hey, a lot of times, gets it.”

Two weeks after sitting out the CB West game due to injury, Wade was all smiles afterwards.

“This feels great,” he said. “I love it. … Our D-line is great.”
