Blue Alert issued for ‘armed and dangerous’ man involved in shooting of Memphis police chief

MEMPHIS, Texas (KFDA) – A Blue Alert has been issued for a man wanted in connection with the murder or serious injury of a law enforcement officer in Memphis.

Police in Hall County are looking for 33-year-old Seth Altman.

According to officials, police served Altman with a warrant for burglary.

Officials say the suspect fled through the back of the house and was confronted by the police chief who was shot by Altman.

According to officials, Chief Rex Plant was taken to Lubbock for medical treatment and is in stable condition.

Officials described Altman as a white male, 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 220 pounds. He is wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans.

Officials say Altman is armed and dangerous.

If you see him, do not approach him, but call 9-1-1.

The Texas Rangers have been called in to assist in an attempted murder investigation.

Memphis ISD canceled all classes today after this incident.

The town hall is closed for the rest of the day.
