Former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has praised Borussia Dortmund team-mate Karim Adeyemi, who has been linked with a move to Anfield. Can left the Reds in the summer of 2018 as a free agent and joined Juventus before eventually signing for Dortmund.

Liverpool had a quiet summer transfer window, with the only new signing in the squad being Federico Chiesa. Giorgi Mamardashvili will move to Anfield after the Georgian goalkeeper spends the season on loan at La Liga club Valencia.

There have been rumors that Adeyemi could be a target for Liverpool in 2025. Reports from Germany indicate that the Reds see the Dortmund striker as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Time will tell what happens to Salah’s future after the current campaign, but his teammates seem to rate Adeyemi highly. Can, who captains Dortmund and has made 167 appearances for Liverpool, recently praised Adeyemi after the striker’s hat-trick against Celtic in the Champions League in midweek.

“He (Adeyemi) played fantastic,” Can told the Bundesliga website. “Not only today, but also over the last few weeks. Plays with more maturity and determination. That must continue to be his goal.”

Adeyemi’s hat-trick against Celtic took him to five goals for the season in all competitions, with the remaining two in the Bundesliga. Sport Bild has claimed that Liverpool have been sending scouts to watch the German international in action in recent months, although a decision has not yet been made on whether the Reds will decide to bring the player to Anfield.
