SPOILER ALERT: The following reveals major plot points from the series finale of Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost.

After four short seasons, Starz’s Power Book II: Mind is officially over after tonight’s series finale titled “Ghost in the Machine.” This won’t be an episode recap, as we’ll discuss all that tomorrow with two of the show’s biggest stars, but rather it’s to discuss Tariq St. Patrick’s (Michael Rainey Jr.) Marvel moment, as you will, at the end of the episode after the credits.

Baby Ghost, as Tariq is often called, lives to see another day and with that there was more teasing Current is ahead. That tells me that they can continue telling stories through Tariq in a new show set in the present. Add to that the upcoming series finale of Power Book IV: Powerled by franchise OG Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora), who better to team up with Tariq than his uncle Tommy? So if you ask me, that was Tommy on the phone with Tariq.

There was a lot of bad blood between Tariq and his father’s best friend, but everything seemed to be wiped away in the final two episodes of Power Book II: Mind‘s third season with a little help from Tariq’s mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton).

So if a new show is planned, I think it will star Tommy and Tariq as they seek to take over the criminal underworld. There’s just no way they’ll end the current timeline, but I also won’t dare let anyone prove me wrong – just in case.

Of Ghost And Power soon to be fully completed, Power Book III: Raising Kanan will continue the previous timeline and will be joined by the newly announced series Originwhich will follow the younger versions of Tommy and Ghost (played by Omari Hardwick in the mothership series). Past Tommy and Ghost eventually come into contact with Kanan from the past (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in Current, Enter Mekai Curtis Raising Kanan) anyway, so it’s logical to guess that the shows could eventually consolidate.

All of these power moves come after a March announcement from Starz CEO Jeff Hirsch about his intention to limit content costs by developing more new shows rather than keeping series alive longer as they become more expensive.

Power Book II: Mind boasted a long list of in-demand talent from the TV and film worlds, as well as artists such as Mary J. Blige, Clifford “Method Man” Smith Jr., Larenz Tate and Michael Ealy, to name a few. Power Book IV: Power brought a former football great into the fold with Isaac Keys starring as David “Diamond” Sampson. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if new franchise shows feature more up-and-coming talent, with established actors perhaps taking on more recurring or guest-level roles.

The only thing that is certain is that through the confirmation with Tariq at the end of tonight’s episode, the show’s creative team and the network are committed to this franchise and the expansion of the universe.
