Aaron Rodgers talked football, but mostly relationships – particularly with coach Robert Saleh and former teammate Davante Adams – after the New York Jets landed in London on Friday.

The four-time NFL MVP even dropped some local lingo, saying “tired” and “stunned” during an 11-minute session with reporters before Sunday’s game against the undefeated Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Rodgers denied there was any rift between him and Saleh, saying there was “some driving force” outside the Jets facility that was trying to “put a wedge between me and Robert.”

Penalties before shootouts in last week’s 10-9 loss to Denver left Saleh wondering “if we’re good enough and ready enough to handle all the rhythm” that Rodgers uses to confuse defenses. Saleh later clarified that he was referring to the entirety of the offense, not Rodgers’ specific tenure. He said the Jets “will always push the envelope” with rhythm because of Rodgers’ success.

“Cadence was a weapon,” Rodgers said at the team hotel north of London. “I think he kind of came in and on Monday he got a chance to kind of respond to all of that.”

We’re sorry, but this video has failed to load.

The 40-year-old playmaker also made it clear that he and Salih are not at odds.

“We are really good friends,” he said. “We are happy with each other. We hang out almost every day, I’m in his office and I talk about different things, I talk about the energy of the team, the focus of the team, what we need to do, how I can help him, how he can help me externally.

“So we have a great relationship.”

Another hot topic this week was the status of the frustrated Adams, who may be available for a trade after reportedly requesting a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. The Jets were mentioned as a potential destination because of the relationship between Adams and Rodgers, who were teammates in Green Bay for eight seasons.

Rodgers prefaced his comments about Adams by saying he wasn’t sure how much he could say due to NFL rule tampering. But he has clearly indicated his preference when it comes to a potential reunion.

“I still have a close friendship with him,” Rodgers said. “We spend a lot of time together in the offseason. He’s a great guy and a great player. The rest is not in my hands.”

When asked about how a player could benefit from a change of scenery, Rodgers replied: “The grass is greener where you water it. … Being anywhere can create a unique situation.

Rodgers, who was sacked five times and hit 14 times by the Broncos, said he felt “a little pissed off” but was overall “pretty good” and was not included on the injury report Friday.

He received treatment for left knee pain this week, but was a full participant in practice Thursday at the team’s facility in Florham Park, New Jersey, and again on Friday after being listed as limited on Wednesday because he did not join his teammates during stretching.

Bucket list

Rodgers may be 40 years old, but he can handle the NFL’s aggressive international push. Brazil hosted its first NFL game this season. Spain will receive its first in 2025.

“Spain would be nice,” Rodgers said when asked where else he would like to play. But he didn’t stop there: “Mexico, France, Italy.”

“We know what reach we have,” Rodgers said of the league. “It’s great to be here, to be a part of this. I like that we’re growing, I love the way we can evolve the game.

Two years ago in London, Rodgers and the Packers lost 27-22 to the New York Giants.

“I definitely want to win in London, that’s for sure,” he said.

Staying in place

This time, the Jets will skip the long commute to Saturday’s guide.

Several people fell asleep during the team’s more than hour-long drive to the stadium in 2021 when they discovered that traffic in London was as bad as the scenes on bridges and tunnels in New York. The Jets lost 27-20 to the Atlanta Falcons after trailing 17-0 early in the second quarter.

“We will not travel on this route,” Saleh said. “Science says don’t nap and this was a recipe for napping.”

The coach says that at 2-2, the Jets are “right in the thick of it” and at a turning point: “This is the part of the season where teams are starting to figure out exactly who they are. You either go up the hill or you stay down.”

What pressure?

The Jets haven’t won much, but that’s still a goal for a team that has missed the postseason for the past 13 years.

“You have to win. This is New York,” Saleh said. “The expectation is to win. When you win, you go to the Super Bowl. When you lose, fire everyone. This is the world we live in, this is the world we live in.

“We are built for this, we are built for this.”

Injuries

LB CJ Mosley (toe) and DL Leki Fotu (hamstring) have been listed as absent for the game due to limited practice this week. …RT Morgan Moses (knee) was previously ruled out.
