After Patrick Mahomes talked more about the collision with Chiefs teammate Rashee Rice that resulted in the receiver being placed on indefinite reserve status.

In Kansas City’s Week 4 matchup with Los Angeles, Mahomes tried to stop the Chargers from gaining more yards after an interception. As the quarterback lowered his arm, Rice ran straight into Mahomes, fell to the turf and was carried off the field.

Mahomes pleaded guilty on Thursday after a friendly fire that killed one of the team’s most influential players.

“When I saw the replay, I felt like hell I hit Rashee,” Mahomes told the press. “I think that’s it. I wasn’t really worried about myself.”

“I was worried about his injury and I hope it wasn’t as bad as it looked because I was the one who hit him,” he added.

Rice hyperextended his knee after the collision with Mahomes and is suspected to have a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

Rice was carted off and was suspected to have torn his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) after hyperextending his knee due to contact with Mahomes. However, initial testing showed no evidence of a season-ending tear.

The team has not yet announced an official diagnosis as more tests are performed on the affected knee.

However, on Thursday afternoon, the Chiefs placed Rice on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least four games.

Earlier on Thursday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said: “We will test and let you know.”

After Sunday’s win, Mahomes addressed the interception that led to the inevitable collision with Rice.

“Obviously he took the corner well. I tried to hit (Travis Kelce) in his body,” Mahomes said. “I knocked him over a little bit, turned the ball over and that’s when I thought Rashee made a really good play.

“I tried to lunge at the guy, but of course I attacked him. If I just don’t turn the ball over, it never happens. So you have to try to get better at it.”

The Chiefs have yet to lose in the three-point game and are 4-0. They hope to continue their winning streak against the New Orleans Saints on October 7.

Rice had 24 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns before his injury.
