All About Nigerian Dwarf Goats

Goats of all kinds make wonderful pets. They’re friendly and affectionate and tons of fun. Nigerian Dwarf Goats are no different. Often raised for milk, many people now want Nigerian Dwarf Goats as pets. Obviously, they’re adorable. But they’re also extremely gregarious and can survive in any climate. They’re also extremely calm, gentle, and playful creatures, which means they’re good with both kids and the elderly.

As far as care goes, Nigerian Dwarf Goats are pretty easy. These goats are herbivores, so they graze on the tips of woody shrubs and trees. They’ll also eat some of the blackberry, weedy undergrowth, and ivy that other livestock won’t eat. These goats are very tiny, so they don’t need as much space or food as other goat breeds. But you should have a little extra space for them.

Female goats can make up to two quarts of milk per day. That milk is pretty special, as it’s high in butterfat and protein. They usually give birth to three to four kids in their lifetime and can live up to 15 years.

This is all to say that if you want to start a hobby farm or are looking for a different kind of pet, these goats could be the perfect fit. And hey, they look pretty cute in a Halloween costume too!
