Local golfers are launching an initiative to help organizations recover after Helene

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Two local PGA Tour golfers announced a new initiative Thursday to support local organizations leading Hurricane Helene disaster response and recovery during the CSRA.

Luke List and Henrik Norlander, who both live in Augusta, are launching the “Birdies for Augusta” initiative to benefit the CSRA Community Foundation and the Red Cross.

“Hurricane Helene has brought incredible damage and loss of life to our community,” List said. “While we are in Jackson, Mississippi for the Sanderson Farms Championship, our hearts are in Augusta as the community recovers from this terrible storm.

“To help the local Red Cross lead response and recovery efforts at home, we are launching the initiative to donate $500 for every bird Henrik and I make during the tournament.

“We are calling on our fellow golfers, tour fans, friends and business leaders to join us and make a pledge,” Norlander said. “Whether it’s $5, $100 or even $500 per bird, we can help the local Red Cross and help Augusta rebuild.”

To donate, please visit the Community Foundation website, www.CFCSRA.org and include “Red Cross” in the Gift Guidance box.

The Sanderson Farms Championship starts today. Luke List is the defending champion.
