In a heartbreaking incident in Tilua village, two children drowned while trying to rescue a goat that had fallen into the river, police said on Sunday.

The tragedy took place on Saturday night in Kalan area when a group of children were grazing their goats near the river. According to police chief Rajesh S., six children entered the river to save the goat but they started drowning in the deep water. Villagers responded to their cries for help and managed to save four of them. Unfortunately, Vandana (12) and Silesh (10) could not be rescued in time and died.

Superintendent Rajesh S confirmed that the police, with the help of villagers, have recovered the bodies from the river. The bodies have been sent for autopsy. Another child who was rescued from the water is in critical condition and is being treated at a hospital.
