LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A Southern California fitness influencer and gym chain owner is in critical condition after he was shot during a robbery in Los Angeles on Friday.

Miguel Angel Aguilar “suffered a gunshot wound and is currently fighting bravely in intensive care,” his Instagram account said.

Aguilar’s Self Made Family account, which has nearly 50,000 followers on Instagram, offers advice on fitness and entrepreneurship.

Self Made Training, headquartered in Temecula, has more than two dozen gyms in California, Arizona, Nevada, Florida and Texas, according to its website.

According to Los Angeles police, four suspects approached a 43-year-old man at 11400 North Thurston Circle around 4:20 p.m. Friday.

They demanded property and at one point shot him before fleeing the scene. The suspects are still at large. The police report did not name Aguilar.

On his Instagram account, he asked for prayers and support from the public.

“Miguel is a beloved person and his strength, leadership, achievements and resilience have inspired so many. We know he is surrounded by the love and support of his family, friends, all of you, and we are confident he can overcome this.”

“During this difficult time, we ask for your prayers, thoughts of positivity and support for Miguel and his loved ones, and ask that you respect the privacy of his friends and family during this time. We will provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your continued love and compassion.”
