Little TayThe doctor’s open-heart surgery to remove a “life-threatening” tumor was successful.

“We are so excited to share that Tay’s open heart surgery was a huge success! We are so grateful to her surgeon, cardiologist and team who are the best in the world,” Lil Tay wrote in a post on Instagram on Saturday, September 14. “Thank you for all the love, prayers and positivity you have all sent her. Thank you for your continued support.”

The message ended with: “We have made a good start on the road to recovery.”

The upload also included a video of the musician, 17, sleeping in a hospital bed while hooked up to multiple IVs and monitors. A teddy bear sat next to Lil Tay’s bed.

Lil Tay confirmed her diagnosis a day earlier, announcing via Instagram on Friday, September 13, that she had a “life-threatening heart tumor.”

“We kindly ask for everyone’s love and prayers,” the message read, alongside images of Lil Tay’s ultrasound.

The teenage rapper was previously the subject of a controversial death hoax. In August 2023, a statement on social media claimed that Lil Tay and her brother, Jason Tianhad suddenly died.

Lil Tay and Tian later claimed the announcement was a hoax made up by their estranged father.

“Tay’s absent father, Christopher John Hoop“hacked her Instagram account and faked her death,” a post shared via the social media star’s Instagram said Saturday. “(It was) a last-ditch effort to ruin her reputation after she lost her career and custody battle.”

A secondary statement shared via Lil Tay’s official Instagram Story confirmed that “neither Tay nor her immediate family have anything to do with” Hope.

However, Hope denies any involvement in the death hoax.

“Someone has a strategy: a good way to get publicity is to make accusations against me,” Hope said Rolling Stone in a November 2023 statement. “They are all false.”

Now that Lil Tay has regained control of her Instagram, she’s ready to move on.

“I finally have my freedom back,” she said Rolling Stone“And I can do whatever I want with it.”

Hope and ex Angela Tian fought a lawsuit over daughter Lil Tay’s career in 2018. Hope took issue with his daughter’s age-appropriate content — several of her videos included references to “broke-ass bitches” and “moving bricks” — while Angela and Lil Tay called him insulting. (Hope denied the allegations.)

In a social media post shared by Lil Tay’s page in August 2023, it was claimed that Angela had been awarded custody of the former couple’s daughter.
