Boudh: In a most tragic accident, three minor sisters died while their father is in critical condition after they were allegedly bitten by a poisonous snake in Boudh in Odisha on Sunday night. The incident took place in Chariapali village under Tikarpada panchayat.

The deceased have been identified as Sudhirekha Mallik (13), Subharekha Mallik (12) and Surabhi Mallik (3). Their father Sulendra Mallik is in critical condition. He has been shifted from Boudh district headquarters hospital to VIMSAR Burla after his condition deteriorated.

According to reports, the three sisters were sleeping with their parents when a poisonous snake bit them and their father. When their condition worsened, their mother suspected a snake bite and called neighbors to rush them to the hospital. However, doctors declared the three siblings dead on arrival.

When Sulendra’s condition deteriorated later, he was referred to the hospital in Burla.

It is suspected that they were bitten by a krait. A somber mood descended on the village after news of the deaths spread.
