Dani Olmo was the only major signing that FC Barcelona made in the last summer transfer window, with the Spaniard joining the Catalan club from RB Leipzig for €55 million fixed fee and another €7 million potential variable fee.

The striker didn’t need long to show his magic for Cules, scoring his first goal for Barcelona on his debut against Rayo Vallecano and then scoring again in a 7-0 thrashing of Real Valladolid.

One of Olmo’s teammates at Barcelona and the Spanish national team, Pedri, recently gave an interview to Mundo Deportivo and spoke about his good relationship with Olmo.

The Barcelona midfielder admitted he wasn’t too surprised by the quality of his new signing:

“Yes, we talked about it in the summer, that he should come and that I can’t wait to play with him. It’s an honour. I think he played two outstanding games. I already knew what quality he had, but people didn’t see it as much.”

The midfielder explained why building good chemistry with Olmo won’t be a problem for him:

“Yes, we knew that before. We also played here with the national team under Luis Enrique. When we play together, we understand each other very well and we knew it wouldn’t be a problem.”

Pedri also mentioned one specific trait he values in his €60 million Barcelona teammate: “He has so much magic, especially when he’s spinning between the lines. I love that. It’s a pleasure to play alongside him.”
