An allegedly drunk passenger on a plane caused chaos in the air and terrorised others on board when he attempted to storm the cockpit of an EasyJet aircraft, forcing the pilots to change course and make an emergency landing.

Flight U28235 departed from London Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday bound for Kos International Airport in Greece.

The Airbus A320 encountered quite a bit of turbulence during the scheduled four-hour flight, which did not go down well with one passenger who had become intoxicated on whiskey.

The alleged drunk passenger said the captain was “crap” and that he would take over the controls while the plane was flying 30,000 feet above land, the US Sun reported.

During the flight, the unidentified passenger attempted to open an emergency exit, with cabin crew and other passengers interfering. This led to a fight and the unruly passenger was detained.

According to flight tracking system FlightAware, an emergency landing was made at Munich International Airport one hour and 44 minutes after take-off.

German police boarded the plane, handcuffed the passenger and removed him from the plane, while others on board cheered him on, as captured in a video posted to TikTok.

“Get out of here, loser,” an angry passenger shouted from the back of the plane as police escorted the disorderly traveler off the aircraft.

Another passenger received applause as he reportedly held the man until “Captain Mike got us safely to the ground.”

As police cleared the incident, passengers mocked the disruptive flyer by chanting rapper KRS-One’s lyrics, “Sound of da Police.”

“The cabin crew were amazing and very brave, but the whole drama was very upsetting,” a source told the outlet.

According to the news agency, the passenger allegedly broke the intercom on board and fought with the crew during the mid-air incident.

EasyJet said the emergency landing was the result of a “passenger behaving disruptively on board.”

“Safety is easyJet’s highest priority and our cabin crew are trained to assess and act quickly and appropriately in all situations to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time,” the airline told The Post. “While such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and will not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour on board.

The remaining passengers on board left the plane and were offered a hotel and meals for the night before the plane departed Munich for Greece on Wednesday afternoon.

“While this was beyond our control, we apologise for the inconvenience,” the airline added.

Last month, Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary called on airports to implement a two-drink limit for travellers.

According to the Independent, O’Leary believes that airports should limit the amount of alcohol sold to a passenger to “two alcoholic drinks” to reduce the number of times airline passengers cause disruption.

“In the same way that you have to show your boarding pass when you go to a shop to buy cigarettes or alcohol, we believe that you should show your boarding pass when you buy an alcoholic drink in an airport bar, and that you should not be served more than two alcoholic drinks, especially if your flight is delayed,” he said.

Ryanair, an Irish ultra low-cost airline, and other European airlines have seen a “spike” in the number of passengers expressing concerns on board planes, “particularly this summer,” O’Leary said in an interview with the outlet.
